John Cena To Be The New Duke Nukem?
John Cena has been known for roles both on and off the big screen. Mostly famous for his role in the World Wrestling Entertainment industry, he has also stared in quite a few Hollywood Feature Films as well like The Marine, 12 Rounds and Trainwreck. He has also been in various TV Shows, made cameo’s in some Comedies as well as his fair share of Late Night television appearances. To say Cena is new to the film industry would be an understatement.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, “The wrestler-turned-actor is negotiations to star in Duke Nukem, a big-screen adaptation of the popular video game franchise featuring the politically incorrect action hero that is set up at Paramount”.
With most game to screen roles, they usually do a good job hiring “The Look” which Cena without a doubt has. The question really is if he can pull off the bad ass and crude humor that we all come to love about Duke Nukem. The movie at this point appears to be produced by Platinum Dunes which is a company that is ran by Michael Bay. Given the idea of a Duke Nukem Michael Bay Feature Film, I will fully expect a huge amount of lens flairs as well as several million explosions and stunning CGI work.
The Hollywood Reporter also mentioned “Platinum Dunes is one of the companies behind the Purge action franchise and has produced the Ninja Turtlesmovies for Paramount. It next has the John Krasinski-directed horror movie A Quiet Place, which is set to open April 6″.
Either way, if this holds true and comes through with a final production and film date, I will be pretty excited to see what they can bring to the Live Action scene. I wonder if Cena is a fan of Bubble Gum? Let us know your thoughts, predictions and more.
