Xbox Game Pass Arriving June 1st

by on May 24, 2017

Earlier this year, Xbox announced a new gaming subscription called Xbox Game Pass.  For $9.99 a month, gamers will have the ability to access a library of over 100 games to download and play.  Today, Xbox announced that Xbox Game Pass will be available for all Xbox users on June 1st!

The Xbox Insider Program had limited access earlier this year, and Xbox Game Pass is now ready to roll out to everyone.  Beginning today, May 24, all Xbox Live Gold members will get exclusive Early Access to Xbox Game Pass, and can start their 14-day free trial before anyone else.  Those who are not Xbox Gold Members can start their trial on June 1st.

Subscriptions will be available for purchase online at xbox.com/game-pass, with a retail offering expected later this year.

Xbox Game Pass allows you to download the games, so you don’t need to worry about bandwith after you have downloaded the games.  Games on Xbox Games Pass can be purchased at a discount along with DLC if you have the subscription.  Plus, games will be added on a monthly basis!  You can expect a variety of Xbox One and Xbox 360 Backwards Compatible games, including the following – Halo 5: Guardians, NBA 2K16, Payday 2, LEGO Batman, Banjo-Kazooie, Viva Pinata, Mega Man Legacy Collection, Streets of Rage, Pac-Man Championship Edition, Bioshock franchise, Gears of War 1-3, Gears Ultimate, Perfect Dark Zero, Borderlands, Saints Row IV: Re-Elected, The Golf Club, Terraria, Resident Evil 0, XCOM: Enemy Within, Mad Max, and Knight Squad.  For a full list of games, click HERE.

All I will say is this is a great deal for gamers.  It gives gamers access to a lot of games that they may not have afforded in the past.  And being able to download the games is a major plus for me.  All I know is I’m extremely happy that Xbox and Playstation have options like this for gamers.

This Pass is a sweet deal and I’m interested to see how the library grows. I’m an admitted PlayStation fanboy, but I ain’t not fool, when it comes to recognizing where Xbox innovates and how Sony should take note. I had high hopes for PlayStation Now and the idea of picking up and playing across PS3, Vita, PS TV, and PS4, sounded rad, but you’d be a fool to not admit that there have been latency issues through the streaming service. Xbox allowing you to download each title, presents the most ideal situation and is so duh that hurts to admit, Sony’s purchase of Gaikai was a complete waste of money. However, the Xbox Game Pass has a long way to go, in terms of offering the sheer volume of radness, offered by PS Now. $9.99 is the sweet spot, price wise. I’ve argued, from the beginning, that Now was a bit too pricey. Well done Xbox, now, give us more first-party titles, cause this year’s struggle’n.
