Who We Want in the New Smash Bros Game

It’s official, Nintendo dropped the bomb on us and announced there’s a new Smash Bros game coming our way. There are a ton of questions floating around. Is this a port of the WiiU version? What modes are being implemented? And of course, What new characters can we expect to see? Well, we know the game comes out in 2018, so we can expect more info closer to E3. But we couldn’t wait, we have characters that we want to play, nay NEED to play in this new Smash Bros game.

Jason’s (Klutzleo) List:

(Note: these aren’t in any particular order, except for the last one being my #1)

Shovel Knight (Shovel Knight)

I feel Shovel Knight would be an amazing character to add to Smash Bros. He has his trusty shovel, a ground wave attack, an aerial punching attack, even an aerial downwards attack. Did I mention that he also has a bad ass shovel? Get him in there!

Little Nemo (Little Nemo Dreammaster)

Little Nemo was a fun NES game that was much better than its movie counterpart. Based on Nemo’s dreams the game is definitely weird. You play Nemo and have to find keys throughout the levels to move onto the next. Nemo doesn’t have any powers or skills besides jump. But you feed enemies candy and they will fall asleep. Once asleep you can “ride” (You wear them as a skin is what it actually looks like) and you possess their skills. This would be an interesting challenge fighter as you have to first hit your opponent with candy then be able to use their skills. Just a thought!

Billy and Jimmy Lee (Double Dragon)

The original bad ass duo. Punches, kicks, SPIN KICKS, GRABBING PEOPLES HEADS AND THEN KNEEING THEM IN THE FACE?! Yes, these brothers need to be added to Smash Bros. Hell just add one and create a Blue and Red skin as they have the same moves. You can’t go wrong here.

Rusty (Steamworld Dig. Suggested by huxxny)

Good ol’ Rusty. This was suggested by Huxxny and this little bot wasn’t even in my head, but damn would he work. He has his legendary pickaxe, a powerful punch, he can run fast, drill, and jump as well. I think this would be a fun addition to the lineup, especially being an indie character that has a cult following can excite some fans.

Captain Flinthook (Flinthook)

Flinthook was one of my top games of 2017. Captain Flinthook is a space pirate armed with a blaster and his hook that allows him to grapple other hooks or even pop bubbles around enemies. He can also slow down time. He is a little bad ass. I need him in this game. With an ultimate move as time slowing down as he blasts the hell out of his opponent? I’m all in.

Earthworm Jim (Earthworm Jim)

Here it is, my ultimate character and one of my all-time favorite characters! Earthworm Jim. A regular earthworm crawled into the that Psy-Crow dropped “Ultra-high-tech-indestructible-super-space-cyber-suit” and it turned him into the hero he is today. He has his blaster (with different forms, including a bubble fun), he can jump, aim up or down, but best of all…he can use his own body as a whip. HE USES HIS OWN DAMN BODY AS A WHIP! Best character ever. GET HIM IN THE GAME! (Ok I know he was in Clay Fighters…but let’s do it again.)

Ryan’s (Rybig1) List:

Cuphead (Cuphead)

Implementing Cuphead would be tricky.  He will need some melee attacks added to his arsenal.  But the loveable character from last year would be a lot of fun to play in Smash Bros.  You could get super creative and implement some bosses as part of his special attacks.  Plus, it would be nice to see an Xbox/Nintendo partnership.

Monster Hunter (Monster Hunter: World)

Wouldn’t it make sense to have a character from the best selling Capcom game of all time?  You can load him/her out with a variety of weapons, and have your cat jump in as a special ability.  Could be a lot of fun!

“B.J.” Blazkowicz (Wolfenstein)

I would love for the Smash team to add a character from the many 3rd party games that have appeared on the Switch.  We could really put any character in here, but I think it would be cool to feature a Bethesda character.  BJ would kick some serious tail in Smash.  Another option would be the Dragonborn from Skyrim.

Joy Cons (Nintendo)

Hear me out – there have been several Nintendo specific characters that have to do with a specific Nintendo system.  Mii Fighters.  Wii Fit Trainer.  Let’s just go all out and make the Joy Cons playable.  Give them the strap to whip enemies with.  Clear the playing field with a well-timed Snap (of course, it will need to have the same snap sound effect that is used in the Switch marketing).  Let’s get crazy here, folks!!

This gif is all you need in order to understand why we need Waluigi in Smash.

Breath of the Wild

This gets a little tricky.  I can see them including one, if not all, of the Breath of the Wild Champions (Mipha, Daruk, Revali, and Urbosa).  But we may need some curveballs to mix things up.  How about Thunderblight Ganon instead of Ganondorf?  How about we add the loveable Prince Sidon to the mix?  Multiple characters from the Zelda franchise typically show up, so let’s make sure we see some more Breath of the Wild characters.

Let us know what you think of our list? Would you add any?
