Big news coming out of TennoCon, the annual convention for Digital Extremes free to play loot shooter Warframe. The game will be making its handheld debut on the Nintendo Switch!
Warframe is making its ways to the Switch by way of the port masters Panic Button. Panic Button has recently done ports of Doom and Wolfenstein II, so players can rest easy. This announcement comes right on the tail of Panic Button teasing that a high profile port was in the works. I personally did not expect Warframe, but am extremely excited to grind away on the switch.
Warframe originally released in 2013 and has gone through a few overhauls. Steadily growing its player base and listening to the community and adapting to keep things new and exciting.
Warframe is a third-person, free-to-play online action game set in an evolving sci-fi world. The game features more than 35 unique Warframes, hundreds of weapons, and thousands of customization options, as well as upgrades, a mod system, and the ability to join clans, nurture pets, and explore massive new open worlds.
Warframe is a game I’ve spent a handful of hours in but it never really stuck with me. I am certain that once it makes its way to the Switch, it will find an expanded and dedicated player base.
Sadly no release date was announced, but let’s hope it will be soon. I believe most Switch owners are hungry for games. When Fortnite released it was downloaded over 2 million times on the switch in the first 24 hours.
