Once again, a rumor has suddenly become a reality!
Earlier today, Ubisoft officially announced that they have been working on Tom Clancy’s The Division 2. And they also announced that we will get our first look at E3 2018. No other details were announced.
In a web post, Julian Gerighty (Creative Director of Massive Entertainment) said the following – “We’re thrilled to announce that we are working on Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, and that development will be led by Massive Entertainment in collaboration with Ubisoft Reflections, Red Storm Entertainment, Ubisoft Annecy, Ubisoft Shanghai and Ubisoft Bucharest. The Division 2 will be powered by an updated version of the Snowdrop engine that enables us to realize our ambitions for the sequel, but more importantly, we’re also taking everything we learned over the past two years and applying it towards the sequel to make sure we get it right.”
It was also announced that The Division will be getting a 4K update, along with more Global Events. On top of that, they are adding a new type of achievement called Shields to The Division. Earning them will unlock special rewards in The Division 2 when it launches.
We really enjoyed The Division when it launched, and I love the number of updates and patches since launch. This would have been an awesome E3 surprise, but I guess the leaks made them announce today. I can’t wait to see what Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft have in store for Division 2.
