PSX Exclusive Preview – Death’s Gambit

by on December 13, 2016

Death’s Gambit looks to be another great game from Adult Swim Games. Developed by White Rabbit, Death’s Gambit is an action RPG whos visual style brings the nostalgia from the Castlevania style action…but then turns it up a notch. It incorporates platforming not only in the levels but in the epic sized boss battles as well. You start off on this expedition trying to find this source of immortality that is plaguing the region. The nearby kingdoms unite and try to get rid of the source. Unfortunately things don’t go as planned and well…you die. Death then comes down and gives you a purpose. He makes you immortal if you become his agent here on this world. Death’s Gambit already looks great and boasts a well balanced combat system. The armor and weapons can be equipped on the fly and you will find these through out your travels. XP is used for everything and is basically the in-game currency. It used for items and leveling up. The artwork and theme looks amazing, and the animations look great. Also for players looking for a challenge there are golden chests that are only opened by completing a challenge. The problem is, you don’t know what the challenge is until you reach that chest. For example a chest may only open if you haven’t healed on that level. If you happened to have healed you will have to play the level again to be able to get the contents of that chest! Another sweet feature in Death’s Gambit are the tombstones littered around the levels. That is their online note system, yes you can leave notes and tips for other players that reach that part of the map. This game has a ton of potential and I am looking for to getting my hands on this and taking on these larger than life bosses. Huge thank you to Alex for taking the time to chat with us and allow us to interview him about Death’s Gambit. Definitely keep your eye out on Death’s Gambit if your heart beats to side-scrolling action-RPGs.
