Bomber Crew…

In Bomber Crew by Curve Digital, in conjunction with Runner Duck Games, Players will find themselves deep behind enemy lines, attempting to destroy their most coveted assets, while dealing with various hazards such as flak guns, enemy radar, weather and dreaded Ace Pilots. Recruiting, training and guiding the right crew, and keeping them alive, is vital in turning the tides of war and achieving success on your bombing campaign.

Simon Byron, Publishing Director for Curve Digital, said “We’re incredibly delighted to be working with Runner Duck on their release of Bomber Crew. The game brings together the serious aspects of a simulation game, with a humor that players are going to love.”

The overall gameplay is pretty fun and challenging. In Bomber Crew the ultimate goal with each mission is to not only keep your plane alive but your crew as well while targeting and destroying your enemies. There are also a variety of optional missions that involve shooting photographs of other targets for research and exploration purposes. One thing I found challenging the most about this game is keeping your plane alive and making sure you have all the proper upgrades in place to protect you from any damage.

From upgrading your crew with flight gear that will vary their protection, the rate of speed, and skill sets to actually upgrading parts, accessories, weapons, and engine upgrades to your plane offers a huge range of customization to the game. With each set of main missions, there is one critical mission to advance to the next completion level of the campaign.

One particular mission I had my entire plane go down in a fiery crash due to running completely out of fuel and not enough time to emergency land. This wiped out my entire plane with the crew and any and all upgrades I had along with it. That sounds unfair, but with the knowledge of knowing that it allows you to really make sure you are properly prepared for each mission and you can do enough easier missions to work your way up to the bigger ones.

Selecting A Crew…

With each crew selection, you are given a pilot, mechanic, navigator, radio communications specialist, 2 gunners, and one bomber. You are also given the opportunity to cross train crew members in case you lose one in battle, another one can step in with that skill set to take over and help out.

In Bomber Crew, you also have bounties if you will target certain pilots in the not so friendly skies. I had yet to actually kill one as it is pretty challenging to stay alive while managing your fuel resources at the same time. One thing to note and remember is upgrading your crew and plane is very vital because as is everything in real life if it dies you pretty much start over.

When it comes to graphics, I do not think that Bomber Crew is exactly going to WOW anyone. The Graphics are cartoon style and a bit blocky when it comes to your environment. I feel like a lot more attention to detail was spent on the plane itself, as well as the interior of the plane since that is where your primary focus is the majority of the game which they pulled off fairly nice.

Bomber Crew is based around the World War II Era, and as the description says puts you right behind enemy lines. The focus of the story is quite simple but those looking for that super involved detailed storyline with lots of plots twist and action might be a bit disappointed. While the storyline is kept simple, I think that it opens more focus up to just enjoying the game and blowing stuff up.

Replay Value…

The Gameplay itself in Bomber Crew can be quite repetitive. You have your missions, you complete them and move on to the next (which pretty much includes the same repetitive tasks from previous missions). Your critical mission is a bit more challenging and has a mix of different tasks all in one big mission. I think it is a good game for a quick pickup to play for a few minutes every now and then, however, depending on what hooks and pulls you into a game as a gamer, you may lose interest pretty quick.
