Arcade Basketball Returns with NBA Playgrounds

by on April 6, 2017

I can only assume that the majority of you are huge fans of NBA Jam.  I have many fond memories of playing with friends.  I also spent countless amounts of quarters at my local Spaghetti Factory because they were one of the few in my area that had a NBA Jam arcade cabinet.  Fans of NBA Jam should be very excited for the news that a new NBA arcade game is coming very soon!

NBA Playgrounds is a 2 on 2 arcade basketball game coming to Playstation 4, Xbox One, Windows, and Nintendo Switch in May 2017.  It is a digital only release and will be available for $19.99.

All 30 NBA teams are featured, as well an extensive roster of current and retired NBA players that you can level up over time.  Play solo, with friends in local and online multiplayer, or against the world in online tournaments. There are hundreds of over-the-top dunks and moves to unleash for show-stopping displays of acrobatic skill on lively playgrounds across the globe.  No word yet on whether or not players will “heat up” or be “on fire” during games.

I can’t wait to get my hands on NBA Playground.  Check out the trailer below, and make sure to stick with GameOctane for more news and info on NBA Playground when it becomes available!

WEWT!!!! Excited! I really really hope they bring back the announcer style that made NBA Jam all that much better (hopefully they were smart and just hired Tim Kitzrow back to do the announcer).

That would be incredible! I’m sure they will distance themselves from NBA Jam in some ways, but it would be awesome to have some throwbacks to it. Tim Kitzrow would be an amazing addition to Playgrounds.
