Ryan’s Most Anticipated Games of 2017

by on January 24, 2017

Today, several big titles have been released – Resident Evil 7, Kingdom Hearts 2.8, and Yakuza 0!  2016 brought us a fantastic line up of games for all consoles and PC, and so far, 2017 is starting off very strong.  There are a lot of games that are scheduled to come out.  Will they actually come out in 2017?  Or will they be delayed?  Only time will tell.  For right now, I selected a handful of games that are my most anticipated and are scheduled to come out in 2017.  Without further ado, here is my most anticipated games for 2017!

Crackdown 3

Crackdown was one of the first Xbox games I ever played.  I loved hunting orbs and making my agent take down gang members.  Crackdown 2 was…..forgettable.  Crackdown 3 looks like it will include all the best aspects of the first game while improving the graphics and engine on Xbox One.  There are also rumors that this will be available on Project Scorpio, so I am really excited to see how it turns out!

Sniper Elite 4

The demo that I played at E3 was phenomenal.  It had everything I wanted in a Sniper Elite game – brutal action, challenging gameplay, and different ways to take down the enemy.  The x-ray vision looks particularly brutal on current gen systems.  I can’t wait to see Rebellion’s newest addition to the franchise this February!

Detroit: Become Human

The E3 trailer looked really interesting, and I am really hopeful that it will come out this year.  Quantum Dream did a wonderful job with Heavy Rain, so I am extremely confident that this will be another fantastic game.  I love games where your choices affect the outcome of characters and overall game.  This sci-fi noir thriller will no doubt bring hours of excitement.

For Honor

I wasn’t 100% sure about For Honor until the alpha came out a few months ago.  The gameplay was very fun and I enjoyed all the classes of warriors.  I think this game has a lot of potential, and I can’t wait to get more time with it when it comes out this year.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole

The Fractured But Whole was originally scheduled for a 2016 release, but was delayed.  I’m hoping the extra time will make this game even better than before.  If it is anything like the Stick of Truth, then it will no doubt be enjoyable and funny as hell.

Horizon: Zero Dawn

I really like the old world vs. tech feel to this game.  It looks really challenging and I am intrigued by the story and how the world came to be.  And, of course, the gameplay footage looks gorgeous.  There is a lot of positive hype for Horizon, and I can’t wait to try it!

Mass Effect Andromeda

Mass Effect is back, baby!  The trailer looks amazing.  I am really curious to see how the story plays out.  The word right now is Andromeda will not be affected by choices you made in the original trilogy.  That could be true, or they are misleading us so we will have some surprises.  Either way, I’m excited to get back into the Mass Effect series and see where Andromeda takes us!

Prey

This game really intrigues me.  A first person shooter with RPG elements and aliens?  It has a lot of potential.  I loved the atmosphere of the announce trailer and I’m dying to see more!

Yooka Laylee

Yooka Laylee will be coming soon, and it looks like the Banjo Kazooie successor that we have been waiting for!  The art and gameplay look phenomenal.  So far, there is a ton of positive feedback with Yooka Laylee.  I want to play this so badly!  This is an example of how Kickstarter can help fun projects like this see the light of day!

Red Dead Redemption 2

We know fairly little about the sequel to one of the greatest games of all time.  We know it is a prequel that shows John Marston’s days as an outlaw.  I bet Rockstar has a few surprises up it’s sleeve with this one.  I can’t wait to learn more about Marston’s past and how he developed into the reluctant hero that we saw in the original game.

Sea of Thieves

CAN SEA OF THIEVES PLEASE COME OUT NOW?????????  I still think about my brief time with the game at E3.  I find that I want to play multiplayer games that offers fun, laughs, and multiple options for how to play the game.  Sea of Thieves offers all of that and more.  GameOctane takes the pirate life very seriously and will be a force to be reckoned with on the open seas this year!

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Is this the open world Zelda game that we have been asking for?  It sure looks like it!  I was surprised by the vast amount of areas to explore and the added elements like cooking food and repairing weapons.  It was one of my favorite games at E3 in 2016, and it looks like we will finally get the full game sometime in March!

There are plenty of other games that are coming out in 2017, but these are my most anticipated.  Don’t agree with me?  Let me know what you are excited for in the comments below!!
