Imprint-X is an affordable puzzle game that may very well make you break your mouse, but that could be a good thing. The quick story behind Imprint-X is that you are a hacker clone and nano bots which are called Wardens. These Wardens are getting into people’s brains and enslaving them. You have to hack into the enslaved brains and press the correct button sequences to defeat the Wardens and free the person.

This is what this game is all about. There are no other instructions and a lot of puzzles are based around trail and error. The Wardens puzzles in the beginning are fairly simple, but damn does it ramp up in difficulty quick. The puzzles require a mix of timing, memorizing where certain things or shapes are, and pattern recognition. Some times all at once and was a little overwhelming to me if I tried to rush through the puzzle. These Wardens will make you take a step back and fully analyze what the solution is to many puzzles. I was kind of hoping for more of a story after ‘saving’ each person but it didn’t kill the game play. Each level only allows a certain amount of moves before you fail that puzzle and have to start over. You can also gain bonus points for timing your button presses.

I played this game on steam with a mouse. There were a few puzzles that needed some decent response time. So if you are playing on a laptop with a touch pad you may run into some response time from dragging your finger across the pad and accuracy of clicking on buttons. I think the ultimate way to control this game would be on mobile where you can tap the buttons instead of racing to them with a cursor.

The price is in a great place for a game like this on steam. $4.99 and $2.99 on mobile. The game includes 100 levels, so you will have some decent time cracking these Wardens. On Steam you are also looking at achievements to unlock as well as Steam Trading Cards. This game will not be for everyone I must add. Puzzle heads will enjoy this much more than the causal or hardcore gamer.
