New Xbox Update Arrives Today

by on July 13, 2017

Typically, it is difficult to write about updates to the Xbox because of the preview program.  Some gamers get the updates earlier than others and some don’t know which ring they belong to in the preview program.  But today’s news is great for everyone because it is an update that everyone will have starting later today!

Today, Xbox announced updates that will arrive for everyone later today.  You can find all the details on the Xbox Wire post, but here is a quick rundown of what you can expect –

  • Custom Gamerpics, club profile pics and club backgrounds can be uploaded from the console, Windows 10 PC, or mobile Xbox app.  Be mindful of the Xbox Code of Conduct when uploading pictures!
  • Co-streaming with up to three friends on Mixer, directly from console.  This is a feature that GameOctane has been really excited about. Imagine a rousing game of Sea of Thieves where you can see the perspective of everyone on the team.  This is possible directly from console on Mixer!
  • Instant Xbox profile sign-in on console with the single press of the Xbox button on one’s controller, making it easier and faster to get signed on and game.
  • User-generated ‘Killer Instinct’ tournaments created on console through Arena
  • Xbox App support on iOS and Android for Game Pass browsing, sharing LFG requests to the Activity Feed and Messages, updated language/location setting and an Android-only Messaging Chat Bubbles feature.
  • Plus, new tabs to see who is broadcasting in your club or in a tournament so you can jump in and watch.

Again, you can see the full article that I linked above for more information.  As a Xbox gamer, I am very happy with these changes.  The custom pics will be fun (I got mine ready to go!) and I can’t wait to try the co-stream feature on Mixer.  Let us know your thoughts on the update in the comments!
